In the Enjin ecosystem, two important processes define how blockchain assets are created and removed: minting and melting.

Minting

Minting is the process of creating new blockchain assets. These assets can be created with or without infused Enjin Coin (ENJ). When ENJ is infused, the asset gains a base value that can later be reclaimed by the owner if desired.

Melting

Melting is the process of destroying a blockchain asset. If the asset contains infused ENJ, that value is unlocked and returned to the owner’s wallet. Assets without infused ENJ can still be melted, but no value will be reclaimed.
