Note: You will need your wallet password or biometrics to back up your wallet.
To back up an existing Enjin Wallet, you will need your 12-word recovery phrase. To find this, please follow this guide:
1. On the Wallet screen, tap on Manage Wallets.
2. On the Manage Wallets screen, click on the wallet you wish to back up.
3. Once in the Wallet Settings, select Back Up.
Note, you will need either your password or your biometrics to access this.
4. After successfully inputting your password or biometrics, you will be presented with your 12-word recovery phrase.
Check and recheck to see if you correctly copied the 12-word seed phrase.
If you ever need to reimport your wallet, you must enter your recovery phrase. If you type even one wrong character or a word that is not in the correct order, it will generate a new wallet instead of importing your old one.
Why you shouldn't store your recovery phrase digitally
For security reasons, we strongly advise writing down your seed/recovery phrase on paper and storing it somewhere safe.
To avoid having your wallet compromised, you should never save your recovery phrase on an electronic device and never provide your recovery phrase to anyone!
Storing your 12-word recovery phrase digitally - whether in a notes app, cloud storage, or email - exposes it to hackers and malware. Any device connected to the internet can be compromised, allowing thieves to find your phrase and steal your funds.
Similarly, you should never copy and paste your recovery phrase when importing a wallet. Malicious software known as "clippers" can monitor your clipboard. When you copy and paste, you risk exposing your recovery phrase to such malware and lose your funds.
For these reasons, the most secure method is to write your phrase down on paper, double-check that every word is correct and in the right order, and store it in a safe, offline location. This simple step is the most critical part of keeping your wallet secure.
