Welcome back to Enjin!
If you've just restored your apps on a new phone, you've probably noticed that the Enjin Wallet is asking you to import your Recovery Phrase.
You might be thinking, "But I can see my wallets and my balance, isn't everything working?"
This is a very common and important question. Let's explain what's happening. Your funds are completely safe, and this is a normal part of setting up your wallet on a new device for security reasons.
Your Key, Your Crypto π
Think of your Enjin Wallet like a secure house, and your 12-word Recovery Phrase is the only key to that house.
When your Enjin Wallet application is backed to the cloud (like Apple's iCloud or Google Drive), it's like hiring a moving company. The movers can see and move your furniture - this is your app data, like your list of wallets, settings, and transaction history. Thatβs why your wallet looks like it's already set up.
However, for your safety, the moving company is never given the key to your house. You are the only one who holds the key.
This is exactly how the Enjin Wallet works. Your cloud backup restores the "furniture," but for maximum security, it never, ever backs up your key (your Recovery Phrase). This is a crucial security feature, not an error.
What is "Watch-Only" Mode? π
Until you unlock the wallet with your Recovery Phrase, itβs in "watch-only" mode.
Imagine looking through the window of your house. You can see all your furniture is there, but you can't use it or move it because you haven't unlocked the front door yet.
In watch-only mode, you can:
β See your wallet balances and NFTs.
β Check your transaction history.
But you cannot:
β Send crypto or NFTs.
β Swap tokens.
β Interact with any apps or websites.
How to Restore Full Access
To get full access and be able to use your funds again, you just need to "unlock the door" by importing your key.
- Find your 12-word Recovery Phrase that you wrote down and stored in a safe place when you first created your wallet.
- Tap the "Import Wallet" or "Import Recovery Phrase" button shown in the app.
- Carefully type in your 12 words in the correct order.
Once you do this, your wallet will be fully activated on your new device, and you can use it just like before!
Your Recovery Phrase is the most important piece of information for your wallet. To learn more about what it is and why it's so vital, please read our detailed guide:
